Five Finger Death Punch Have Re-Recorded Their Early Hits After The Masters Were Sold Without Their Knowledge, Hear Three Updated Tracks

Multi-platinum hard rockers Five Finger Death Punch have announced a new best of set. Titled ‘BEST OF (Volume 1), this collection assembles newly re-recorded takes on a variety of the band’s earlier tracks and will be out on July 18th through Better Noise Music.

While this best of coincides with their 20th anniversary, there’s also an ulterior motive to this decision as well, as the band are seeking to regain some semblance of ownership to early entries in their catalog, after the masters to those recordings were recently sold without the band’s knowledge.

You may recall that the band have had a contentious history with their former label home of Prospect Park, having filed a million dollar countersuit against the label back in 2017. Ultimately, the band and the label settled out of court.

Speaking on this latest development in the saga regarding that earlier material, guitarist Zoltan Bathory stated:

“We would have loved to have a shot at reclaiming our masters, or at least to be involved in the transaction but we found out after the fact. Surprised, but not surprised. These kinds of behind closed doors deals have become far too common in the music industry. Labels buy, sell or trade artist’s work without their knowledge or consent, reducing them to soulless commodities.

But life is a chess game so when this happened to Taylor Swift, she responded by re-recording her catalog. After that respectably bold move, her fans switched to streaming the new version out of protest and loyalty. We have one of the most hardcore and loyal fan bases on the planet so I know our fans will do the same.”

Newly arriving from it is an updated version of “I Refuse” featuring In This Moment‘s Maria Brink, as well as the 2025 versions of “Jekyll And Hyde” and their cover of Bad Company‘s eponymous track.
