Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith threw it all the way back to the 2000 rap and metal pairing compilation ‘Loud Rocks‘ during his trip to Drumeo last year. Released by Loud Records, that compilation saw various nü-metal and heavy metal artists join up with various rap stars of the era to reinvent the latter’s tracks.

That resulted in some bold combinations, including System Of A Down teaming with the Wu-Tang Clan, Xzibit joining forces with Sevendust, Incubus working with Big Pun and more. Even heavy metal pioneers Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi got in on the fun, throwing it down with the Wu-Tang Clan.

Smith was one of the original participants on that record, teaming up with with Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello and several members of Wu-Tang Clan on a Rick Rubin-produced cover of ‘Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nothing Ta Fuck Wit“.

As for choosing to revisit this song, Drumeo shared “When we asked Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers to choose some of his favorite recorded performances to play at Drumeo, this track was among his very first picks.”
