Post-rockers Caspian have shared a notice of caution in the wake of being targeted by scammers on digital service providers. Music fraudulently being attributed to the band has been showing up on the group’s streaming profiles, including a new EP several days ago. Speaking this morning, April 21st, the outfit confirmed that while new music is in the works, these latest additions to their streaming profiles are not genuine. Here’s what they had to say:
“HI ALL – WE ARE AWARE OF THE FAKE ACCOUNTS POSTING MUSIC UNDER OUR NAME ON DIGITAL STREAMING PLATFORMS AND ARE WORKING TO HAVE THEM TAKEN DOWN AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INCREASING ISSUE AMONGST ARTISTS IN THE DIGITAL AGE AND ONE OF THE MANY BLIND SPOTS INHERENT TO THESE PLATFORMS.
IF AND WHEN WE RELEASE NEW MUSIC, WHICH WE ARE ACTIVELY WORKING ON, YOU’LL BE THE FIRST TO KNOW AND THERE WILL BE NO CONFUSION. IN THE MEANTIME. PLEASE DON’T STREAM OR LISTEN TO THESE ACCOUNTS.
THANKS. AND HOPE ALL ARE WELL. A GENERAL UPDATE FROM OUR CAMP WILL BE GOING UP SOON-ISH.
(THE REAL) CASPIAN“
Caspian are not alone in being victims of such activities, with countless artists also having been hit in recent years.
