In a move that recalls Metallica‘s 2003 ‘Summer Santarium Tour‘, nü-metal superstars Limp Bizkit will once again be sharing stages as one of the openers for the reigning kings of thrash metal this year. Limp Bizkit have never shied away from the influence Metallica have had on them, having played several different covers of their works dozens of times over the years.

However, while the revitalized outfit have paid homage with “Master Of Puppets“, “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” and “Seek & Destroy“, guitarist Wes Borland recently showed off a potential new addition to the roster.

In the below video newly shared on social media this weekend, Borland filmed himself noodling around to Metallica‘s 1986 instrumental tour de force, “Orion“. That song, regarded as one of the finest works of late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton, was suitably fed through the Borland blender, with his unique version of it available below.

The dates for Metallica stops with Limp Bizkit & Ice Nine Kills opening include:

04/26 Toronto, ON – Rogers Centre
05/03 Nashville, TN – Nissan Stadium
05/23 Philadelphia, PA – Lincoln Financial Field
06/06 Tampa, FL – Raymond James Stadium
06/20 Santa Clara, CA – Levi’s Stadium
06/27 Denver, CO – Empower Field at Mile High
