Blackened hardcore duo Wretched Blessing recently released a new EP featuring covers of a pair of tracks originally penned by multi-platinum alternative metal vets Deftones. That outing finds Wretched Blessing serving up their own takes on some earlier cuts from the highly influential Californian band’s catalog. They selected “My Own Summer (Shove It)“, the lead single from Deftones‘ platinum-certified sophomore album “Around The Fur“, and “Elite” — a deeper cut from 2000’s genre-shifting “White Pony“.
Speaking to Idioteq recently about the EP and the their love of Deftones music, drummer/vocalist Rae Amitay stated: “Deftones have had a huge impact on us. They’re childhood favorites, but they’ve never left our rotation.” Wretched Blessing plan to invest any profits earned from this EP into touring and their upcoming recording sessions this spring.
