Politically divisive rap rock/country artist Kid Rock was filmed angrily storming off the stage this past weekend amid a live birthday bash for Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan Rashbaum. That celebration took place at the Jon Bon Jovi-owned JBJ’s Nashville restaurant/venue in Nashville, TN.
Rock stepped in to help front Creedence Clearwater‘s 2x multi-platinum 1969 hit”Proud Mary” alongside David Bryan and co., but soon became annoyed with the audience roughly two minutes into the cover. As he himself expressed, the crowd’s disinterest in maintaining the claps that he had them initiate earlier into the cover, drew his ire. As such, he brought the performance to a halt, stating, “F–k them. F–k them. Hey, hey, stop. If you ain’t gonna clap, we [ain’t] gonna sing. That’s how it’s gonna go.”
After resuming the song and making further attempts at guiding the audience in clapping along, while also cautioning them to not get “too fast”, Rock eventually became incensed with the continued lack of audience participation. He then once again brought the performance to a halt, stating, “You know what? F*ck ya’ll, you ain’t gonna clap, I’m gone.” True to his word, Rock then stormed off the stage and is said to have not returned to perform for the rest of the night.
