Black Sabbath Recruit Metallica, Slayer, Pantera & More For Star-Studded Farewell Show

In what looks to be the metal event of 2025, heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath will be reuniting for one final farewell show in their hometown of Birmingham, UK. While the group technically wound down their career in that very city following the conclusion of a farewell tour back in 2017, that trek was undertaken without the involvement of drummer Bill Ward, who at the time was warring with the band over contractual disputes.

This presumed final sendoff for the legendary band has been dubbed ‘Back To The Beginning‘ and will also serve as the first proper show to be performed by the band’s vocalist Ozzy Osbourne since being sidelined with numerous health issues several years ago. Osbourne is expected to pull double duty at the show and it has been noted that his solo set will be somewhat abbreviated.

The concert itself will be held at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK on July 05th, with all proceeds from it to go towards Cure Parkinson’s, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice. Sabbath will be joined by many past alumni of the ‘Ozzfest‘ events and more at this forthcoming show. Outside of a headlining set from Sabbath themselves, an all-star metal roster has been assembled, with additional performances from the following scheduled:

Ozzy Osbourne
Metallica
Slayer
Pantera
Gojira
Halestorm
Alice In Chains
Lamb Of God
Anthrax
Mastodon

On top of that, a supergroup of esteemed metal and hard rock musicians will also be involved, that roster includes:

Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins)
David Draiman (Disturbed)
Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses)
Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit)
Lzzy Hale (Halestorm)
Jake E. Lee (Red Dragon Cartel, ex-Ozzy Osbourne)
Jonathan Davis (Korn)
KK Downing (KK’s Priest, ex-Judas Priest)
Mike Bordin (Faith No More/Ozzy Osbourne)
Papa V Perpetua (Ghost)
Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, etc.)
Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen)
Slash (Guns N’ Roses)
II (Sleep Token)
Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine)
Wolfgang Van Halen (Mammoth WVH, ex-Van Halen)

Additional performers for that supergroup will be announced at a later date. Morello is serving as the musical director for that collective and promises, “This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever.”

Commenting on the big show, Ozzy himself stated:

“It’s my time to go ‘Back To The Beginning’… time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”

Tickets for this event will be available Friday, February 14th at 10:00am GMT.
