Ahead of tonight’s (February 02nd) 67th annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA, the bulk of this year’s awards were handed out via a livestreamed ‘Premiere Ceremony’. It is among the latter that the awards relevant to readers of this site were issued, with Gojira taking home the big win in this year’s ‘Best Metal Performance’ category.
The group’s collaborative track with Marina Viotti and composer Victor le Masne, “Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira!)“, scored them that honor. That track also served as a historic moment for metal in 2024, having been performed live at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, marking the first time a metal band had been given that opportunity.
