Tool made a surprising return to the stage last night, January 23rd, performing a two-song set in celebration of their bassist Justin Chancellor accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Bass Magazine Awards. That ceremony was held at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA and found the aforementioned progressive alternative metal icons running through both “Schism” & “Jambi“.
Footage from that intimate performance — the band’s first since this past June — has been shared online below. As the abbreviated set wasn’t a proper headlining performance for the band, it seems that their stringent ‘no filming’ policy was not enforced.
A series of photos from the set, as well as Chancellor‘s acceptance of the aforementioned award, have also newly been published online via Revolver. The multi-platinum outfit are next slated to hit the stage for a pair of shows at their first-ever destination festival, ‘Tool: Live In The Sand‘. That event will be held March 07th to 09th at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
