Broken Hope/Earthburner guitarist Jeremy Wagner has filed suit against noted rock and metal photographer Ross Halfin. The latter 67-year-old rock n’ roll vet has been active in the photography scene since the mid 70s, partnering with thrash metal legends Metallica numerous times, while also shooting the likes of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Eminem, Iron Maiden and countless other rock & metal luminaries over the decades. Halfin sells autographed, bespoke prints of his work via his official website, rosshalfin.com.
Wagner had Halfin served during a December 2024 wedding ceremony for Metallica‘s Kirk Hammett. In his suit, Wagner names Halfin and his business RHP Ltd. as defendants. Wagner alleges he purchased prints of four 1975-76 era Lynyrd Skynyrd photos from Halfin for over $7,300, only to find out that three of said photos were the work of another photographer, Barry Plummer.
Wagner alleges in the suit that Halfin intentionally defrauded him with the sale of the prints, which Halfin is said to have signed as though they were his own. The photos in question, as well as communications between Halfin and Wagner have since been obtained and shared by Heavy Mental, along with more details from the suit.
Wagner is seeking compensatory damages, legal fees and punitive damages against Halfin over the matter. An initial hearing was held this past Monday, January 06th. The next hearing will be held on February 03rd.
