The RIAA have just announced their first wave of certifications for the year and among them singles from Halestorm and Skillet. Hard rockers Halestorm have just landed a gold certification for their 2012 cover of Lady Gaga‘s “Bad Romance“.

As for Skillet, the Christian alternative metal band’s 2009 single “Monster” has now notched up its 6th multi-platinum certification, having last hit 5x platinum status back in July of 2022. Both of the aforementioned bands have racked up numerous platinum and gold certifications across their respective careers thus far.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
