Nine Inch NailsTrent Reznor is heading back into the world of scoring video games, this time joined by his frequent partner in crime, Atticus Ross. While the two have served as the creative force behind the aforementioned industrial metal legends for some time now, Reznor first made waves in the video game world back in 1996, scoring the first instalment of the revolutionary first-person shooter franchise ‘Quake‘.

This new foray into the gaming world finds the duo composing the score for the newly announced video game, ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet‘ from  Naughty Dog, the acclaimed developers behind hit franchises such as ‘Uncharted‘, ‘The Last Of Us‘, ‘Crash Bandicoot‘ and more.

The game was revealed earlier today (December 12th) as part of the annual ‘The Game Awards’ show, hosted by Geoff Keighley. The first trailer for it can be found below, with the following said of the game itself:

“‘The Heretic Prophet‘ is the newest franchise in development for the PlayStation 5 console from Naughty Dog, the studio behind acclaimed series like The Last of Us and UNCHARTED. Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic puts players into the role of Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.”

Reznor and Ross remain as active as ever these days, with multiple scores in the works, including the new film ‘Tron: Ares‘ being composed under the Nine Inch Nails banner, along with yet another collaboration with director Luca Guadagnino, ‘After The Hunt‘.
