SPINE recently dropped a new track titled “SPINE CREW“, along with a music video for it and a bonus remix. The band’s vocalist Antonio Miguel Marquez issued that track through his newly launched label venture, Rage Deposit, in partnership with Convulse Records. Marquez stated on social media:
“Back in June I had this loose idea of a song I wanted to write. The concept was something to help define the local scene at the moment and shine a light on a handful of local musicians (and friends) doing their thing. All while we had a crop of very cool gigs coming up for the year that would make even more sense to use whatever platform we had to help propel the projects of our scene and friends.
So I convinced @max.vantilburg @tyte_goat @tunksss to meet at the space on a Sunday with the expectation that if the music we would write that day didn’t end up working out, we’d shelve the idea and keep it moving. However we HAD to write and record that day. They agreed and we got in and collaborated collectively to come up with the track we released last week.
In addition to the song, we enlisted the help of @ryannjenga & @njengafilms to help direct the music video and help bring the song to life (visually). As I was rounding this idea out, I decided to enlist the help of David to remix the song in his own style via @portal2heaven with the only direction of it being a 90s style techno mix in the vein of Crystal Method/Chemical Brothers. And he delivered!
The final piece was finally starting a label, @ragedeposit which I’ve wanted to do for a while. I wanted to release music I really enjoyed, while also passing down knowledge on how to go about doing an actual band. This is my first release in partnership with @convulserecords . More releases soon.
This entire project is our way showing our love and appreciation to our scene. Shining a light on our city and bringing our friends along the way. SPINE CREW is our friends, our city, and our scene.
