Despite the latest wave of drama associated with the band, As I Lay Dying‘s eighth studio album “Through Storms Ahead” will be arriving this Friday, November 15th. As a final advance listen from the effort, the band, which currently consists solely of vocalist Tim Lambesis, have launched a stream of the song “The Void Within“.
No strangers to controversy, the San Diego, CA-based metalcore band underwent a mass exodus of members in recent weeks, with guitarist/vocalist Phil Sgrosso, guitarist Ken Susi, bassist/vocalist Ryan Neff and drummer Nick Pierce all separately announcing their resignations from the outfit.
Their respective exit statements made cryptic mentions of the cause of the departures, with Susi offering, “…my personal morals have recently been tested to a breaking point.” Sgrosso himself shared, “…recent actions have shown that As I Lay Dying no longer offers a healthy or safe environment for anyone involved.”
An official statement on the matter from the band’s sole remaining member, vocalist Tim Lambesis, offered little in the ways of clarity, but did confirm that he intends to once again rebuild the band with a new lineup. Outside of Sgrosso, the latest members to join the band had signed on back in 2022.
While their fall European touring plans were spiked in light of the lineup turmoil, the band have since announced a May 16th performance at the annual ‘Welcome To Rockville‘ festival in Daytona Beach, FL.
