While it certainly wasn’t the original plan, Sleep Token took to the stage in Zurich, Switzerland last night (November 05th) without two of their members. As was revealed just hours before their show at Halle 622 was set to commence, the masked alternative metal band’s bassist III and guitarist/vocalist IV had both fallen ill.
Rather than scrap the concert, the group opted to go ahead with the performance, utilizing backing tracks consisting of recordings of the two absent members captured during tour rehearsals. If you’re curious to see how that panned out, fan-filmed footage has since arrived online below. The setlist for the show ran as follows:
“The Night Does Not Belong To God”
“The Offering”
“Dark Signs”
“Higher”
“Atlantic”
“Hypnosis”
“Like That”
“Alkaline”
“Missing Limbs”
“Chokehold”
“The Summoning”
“Granite”
“Rain”
“Ascensionism”
“Take Me Back To Eden”
“Euclid”
Speaking after the unconventional performance, the band offered:
“Zurich, thank you for your unwavering support and for raising your voices with us last night. In the absence of our brothers III and IV, your energy filled the room and carried us through.
We are grateful beyond words for this collective, and for each of you who shared in the Ritual with us. Your presence means everything.”
