A music video for “Deathgrip” from Minneapolis, MN deathcore outfit Waste has popped up online just hours ahead of tomorrow’s release of their new EP, “In Decay“. Eric DiCarlo (Signs Of The Swarm, Downswing) was hired on to direct the songs accompanying music video. Addressing this freshly shared song and its visual component, the group stated:
“When we were deciding on which song we should release as the second single of our new EP, ‘Deathgrip,’ was in the forefront of our mind almost instantly. Not only is this song very intricate in so many ways, it also ties in very beautifully with the heaviness and intensity that this new EP brings to the table.
The song speaks volumes on the harsh truth that is living with psychosis and the darkness and hard work that need to be put in to be able to face this illness, from the back and forth within yourself to the tiring feeling of constantly feeling chained up and unable to move forward.
For this music video we worked with our good friend Eric DiCarlo at Square Up Studios because we knew he would be able to bring our vision to life and help us achieve the best out of the card’s we’ve been dealt with. The knowledge that he brought to the table while filming this video was extremely valuable to the creation of it and the final product.
Eric really took the time to teach us more about the character and emotions we wanted to portray and how to apply them and made sure that everything was perfect to the last detail, even if it meant missing his plane back home and for that, we are extremely grateful.”
