Vocalist Marcos Leal recently announced his exit from Ill Niño, shifting his focus to both Shattered Sun and his country rock outfit Swim The Current. A new single titled “Stay” by the latter saw a release this week and is available below in the form of a Tom Flynn -directed music video
Leal is joined in that band by bassist George Pond (Disciples Of Verity), guitarist Greg Antine, drummer Chris Moore (George Lynch, Ultraphonix, Rock Of Ages), and lead guitarist Joe Gareri. Speaking about this song, Leal stated:
“I’m freakin excited to bring you Swim The Current‘s latest track off our upcoming album, ‘Stay‘ It will be our first step into the Country Rock Music Scene, and I couldn’t be happier taking this next step in my career with TLG ZOID/Virgin Music Group in our corner!
When I first came up with the concept of the ‘Stay‘ music video with Tom Flynn, I wanted something to mirror exactly what we are, a little bit of country and a little bit of metal. I’m incredibly thankful to be working with Tom who I’ve always considered the best in the business at his craft. I’m very thankful for him, TLG/ZOID and Revolver for helping me bring this vision to light.
When I wrote ‘Stay‘ with George and Sahaj Ticotin, we were talking about the crazy punch-drunk love we have all experienced throughout our lives. Sometimes the love you have for that person of your dreams will make you do some crazy things. Sometimes no choice is your choice, and the weight of moving on is too much to carry. In the end, letting go was the choice you should have made, but instead, you stayed.”
