Yesterday, October 20th, saw GRAMMY Award-winning prog metal legends Dream Theater kick off the European/UK leg of their 40th anniversary tour. That set also marked the first time the multi-platinum group had performed live with returning drummer Mike Portnoy since August of 2010.
Footage of the set has surfaced online below, with the following setlist being played:
Act I:
“Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle And The Sleeper”
“Act I: Scene Two: I. Overture 1928”
“Act I: Scene Two: II. Strange Déjà Vu”
“The Mirror”
“Panic Attack”
“Barstool Warrior”
“Hollow Years” (’96 demo version)
“Constant Motion”
“As I Am”
Act II:
“Night Terror” (live debut)
“This Is The Life”
“Under A Glass Moon”
“Vacant”
“Stream Of Consciousness”
“Octavarium”
Encore:
“Act II: Scene Six: Home”
“Act II: Scene Eight: The Spirit Carries On”
“Pull Me Under”
A number of those songs were receiving their first live performances in a number of years, some of which were last played by the band live as far back as 2004 onward. Portnoy himself commented after the show:
“A very special moment in Dream Theater history was made tonight, thank you London!”
