With the pop-punk and emo-centric ‘When We Were Young‘ festival descending upon Las Vegas this weekend, promotion has kicked off in that city for the 30th anniversary return of the ‘Vans Warped Tour‘ next year. Promoter Live Nation are involved in both events, having newly paired with ‘Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman for the big return of the once annual summer touring festival.
Per billboards sighted around Sin City this week, next year’s event will take place across the following three cities:
06/14-15 Washington, DC
07/26-27 Long Beach, CA
11/15-16 Orlando, FL
The billboards also note that pre-sales for tickets will launch next Thursday, October 24th. Once a staple of the summer touring scene, the ‘Vans Warped Tour‘ was laid to rest back in 2018, with 2019 seeing a trio of destination festivals held in honor of the trek’s 25th anniversary. Since then, the event has remained dormant. Lineup announcements for this highly anticipated return have yet to be made.
Lyman has previously outlined his original decision to bring the festival to an end, telling Kerrang! in 2019:
“Everyone looked at me like ‘He stopped ‘Vans Warped Tour” and in our business we always look at it as money. First thing they go to: money. ‘He’s not making any money.’ And that was not it. That was not it. ‘Warped Tour‘ was not feeding my soul and my heart as much as you put in. Because ‘Warped Tour‘ was 90% about the community and 10% about the money, it really was.
And some people I’m sure will say bullshit, but it’s true. I built that because I wanted to keep people coming to see live music. I wanted to build a community… And I’d lost that, that spirit was taken out of me for multiple reasons.”
