Ashton Irwin, drummer for multi-platinum pop rockers 5 Seconds Of Summer , appears in the newly released episode of Drumeo‘s ‘For The First Time’ series of videos. In it, musicians are introduced to songs they haven’t heard before and are challenged to come up with their own drum parts to them on the spot.
The hook of the series is that the musician in the hot seat is hearing the song not only for the first time, but is also hearing a version of the track with the percussion removed. Irwin was served up Megadeth‘s 1990 thrashy setlist staple “Tornado Of Souls“. After delivering his own take on it, he was allowed to hear the original track and compare his own parts.
