The ornate 30th anniversary release of Tool‘s 3x multi-platinum debut studio album “Undertow” has newly been made available by the band online. Currently that set retails for $249.99 and is limited to the CD format.
Bassist Justin Chancellor — who was not a member of the outfit at the time “Undertow” was released —curated the art direction and packaging for the effort alongside Mackie Osborne. Along with the updated album art and elaborate packaging, a full artbook with unreleased photos and interviews, a lenticular artwork card, and a 30th anniversary coin are all featured in the set.
If you’re wondering why an album that turned 30 in April of last year is just now getting a 30th anniversary edition, you might have missed some past news. This set was previously made available late last year, however, it was exclusive to the celebrated alternative metal band’s live shows at the time.
This wide release marks the first time the set has been made available for purchase online officially. If you were wondering, the previous tour exclusive option of getting an autographed copy of the album for $500 is no longer available. You can pick up a ‘standard’ copy of this anniversary edition via toolband.com.
