With vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell‘s promotional campaign for his upcoming new solo album “I Want Blood” in full swing, new music from his multi-platinum grunge band Alice In Chains shouldn’t be expected anytime soon. Cantrell has been spending his summer out touring on the aforementioned new opus, which will receive an October 18th release date.

However, while touring on “I Want Blood” will remain his main priority over the coming months, it would seem that Alice In Chains aren’t laying entirely dormant. While there’s seemingly no concrete progress yet on the follow-up to 2018’s “Rainier Fog“, there are some things happening in the band’s camp.

Cantrell recently told Loudwire of AIC‘s current activities, “There’s a couple of things that we’re working on, like non-album related.” He continued:

“We’re going to jump on a call [soon], we’ve got a few creative irons in the fire, but I’m at the very beginning of this cycle that I’ve committed to so I pretty much kind of keep my focus on this.”

2025 will see the 30th anniversary of Alice In Chains‘ final studio album with their late vocalist Layne Staley, the 2x multi-platinum “Alice In Chains“. Whether or not the band intend to celebrate that milestone remains to be seen.
