Earth Crisis, Downswing, Etc. Hit In Latest Wave Of Fake AI Songs On Spotify & Apple Music

The metalcore scene has once again found itself under the assault of apparently AI generated music being shared on leading digital services under the guise of established bands. This latest wave of songs are attributed to songwriter ‘papi ilham’ and have shown up on the profiles of a number of heavier artists, including Earth Crisis, Downswing, Windwaker and more.

This second influx of fake songs has shown up on both Spotify and Apple Music, and many of the groups affected have already managed to get the illegitimately labeled songs removed.

A similar situation happened late last month, when numerous metalcore & deathcore bands were targetted as part of a similar campaign, with those songs also being attributed to ‘papi ilham’. Amid that last wave, Caliban, who were among the affected bands, cited a “dubious distributor” as being involved in the flood of faked songs.

Downswing commented on the situation earlier today, September 05th:

“An AI generated song was released on our Spotify and possibly other streaming services today

This release was uploaded without our consent and we are working on having it removed ASAP”
