While members of Slipknot have tossed around some new music ideas and teased the existence of a new track a new track titled “Long May You Die, the arrival of the group’s first full-fledged body of work with their latest recruits (drummer Eloy Casagrande and their unidentified sampler/keyboardist, etc.) remains a ways off.

In a recently published interview with Alternative Press, several members of the masked multi-platinum Iowan horde provided a rough outline for their follow-up to 2022’s “The End, So Far“. That latter album marked the end of the band’s Roadrunner Records era, leaving them free agents for the future to come.

Speaking of what he expects to materialize from this newest incarnation of the group after they wrap up their ongoing 25th anniversary touring on their self-titled 1999 album, vocalist Corey Taylor offered:

Eloy is such a natural writer. I think he’s going to take us to some places we haven’t been in a while. I’ve got a lot to say, and I’m looking forward to expounding on a lot of different things.”

Percussionist M . Shawn “Clown” Crahan provided a loose timetable of when it could all come together, offering:

“Somewhere between 2025 and mid-2026, there’s gonna be writing. I think it’s gonna be sooner than later. Maybe we’ll be in the studio in the later part of 2025. There’s no expectations. No one’s in a rush, but we’re not going to blow it off, either.”

As for how the group will release that music, that still remains up in the air, as Clown added:

“I won’t sign a seven-album deal. But could we do one-offs or two? I don’t know. Am I interested in doing it ourselves? Well, that’s a lot of fuckin’ work. Could we do it? Yeah. Could it be beneficial for the band? Of course. Is it going to be 10 times more work? Absolutely.”

Also touched upon in the same interview is the breakdown in mental health Taylor suffered earlier this year, leading him to scrap some planned solo touring. This past January, Taylor stated of his well-being at the time:

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of my upcoming North American tour. For the past several months my mental and physical health have been breaking down, and I reached a place that was unhealthy for my family and l. I know this decision will come as a shock to some and may be regarded as unpopular by others – but after taking a hard look at where I am and where I was going, I need to pull myself back and be home with my family for the time being. Those of you who bought tickets and VIP packages for this upcoming run will get a full refund.

I send my love to the fans, my band, my family & friends, and everyone who’s helped me get here thus far. I promise I’m doing everything I can to be as healthy as I can be. Until then, my apologies to everyone we would have seen on the tour – and hopefully we’ll see you again down the line.”

Taylor has been an open book when it comes to the various traumas he suffered over the years, publicly speaking back in 2017 of being sexually assaulted as a child, his past suicide attempt, his battle with addiction, and more.

Speaking to Alternative Press in this new interview about coming forward regarding his troubled past, he revealed that the burden of those incidents played also a part in his mental health lapse earlier this year. He said of that:

“A lot of people hit me up saying it helped them get themselves back into therapy, or to try therapy for the first time. wish I had a better happy ending to that video than I did. I didn’t end up addressing those things until this year. A lot of my issues come from being convinced that I’m right, even when I’m wrong.”

He also weighed in a bit more on of the state of his mental earlier this year and how it has changed how Slipknot will tour going forward:

“I found that my pursuit of work and all things ego was killing me. And nearly killed me. So I’ve reinvested my life to the point [where] I’m only going to work so much. I’ll never be gone from home for more than two-and-a-half weeks. I’m putting importance back on the things I really value. That is the greatest gift I could give myself and my family.”

Slipknot‘s 25th anniversary touring will continue throughout the year, with further dates extending into 2025. Thus far, the group have the following shows lined up.
