Pierce The Veil have added a third platinum single to their collection, with “Caraphernellia“, the lead single from their 2010 album “Selfish Machines“, having newly been certified by the RIAA. That track had previously been certified gold in the United States back in July of 2021.
The San Diego-based emo/post-hardcore band already had two platinum singles (“King For A Day“, “A Match Into Matter“) and two gold singles (“Bulls In The Bronx” & “Bulletproof Love“), along with a gold album in “Collide With The Sky“. Several of those certifications were late last month.
A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
