Ben Weinman Comments On The Dillinger Escape Plan’s First Reunion Show, Thanks Greg Puciato & Past Members For Their Contributions To The Band

The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman has commented on the band’s first reunion show this past weekend. The group were back onstage for the first time since calling it quits back in the December of 2017. This current reunion is taking place around the 25th anniversary of their 1999 debut album, the mathcore landmark “Calculating Infinity“.

Returning vocalist Dimitri Minakakis is back behind the mic for these shows, having also served that role on the aforementioned album, which of course featured Weinman on guitars. Bassist/vocalist Liam Wilson, drummer Billy Rymer and guitarist James Love, who all joined in the years after that album’s release, comprise the roster for this reunion.

This past Saturday, June 08th, saw the group perform at the first-ever ‘No Values‘ festival in Pomona, CA. Fan-filmed footage from that night was shared over the weekend. Now Weinman has uploaded some footage from the band’s camp of the set, while also speaking on what the concert meant to him.

In his post, which can be read below, he also thanks the band’s former vocalist Greg Puciato and the band’s other former members. Back in September of last year, Weinman detailed his and the band’s current relationship with Puciato, revealing that he and Puciato had not spoke to each other since calling it quits. He further offered that, “I think it is safe to say the band’s members – including myself – do not share the same values as Greg.” Despite the apparent disconnect between the two parties, Puciato himself recently expressed his support for the run.

Speaking via Instagram last night (June 09th), Weinman thanked Puciato and the other past members of the band for their contributions over the years, while unpacking what the show meant to him. Here’s what he had to say:

“My lady put some fun footage together from our weekend, and all i can say is Wow! There are no words that can express how grateful I am for the opportunity to play these special throwback shows with some of my former @dillingerescapeplan alumni besties, and still have the opportunity to get #cyco with @suicidaltendencies

I really need to thank @dminakakis, @liam_wilson, @billyrymer, #Jameslove, for having me. I’m also super grateful for Greg Puciato and the other Dillinger family members for their dedication in helping build this band into what it is for so many years following #calculatinginfinity. If it were not for him and the other people in the DEP fam, I would have never been able to see my friend Dimitri play in front of this many people. It’s super cool to experience after all these years.

Thanks to my heros Mike Muir and Jello Biafra for joining us on stage. Definitely a pinch myself moment.

Special thank you to our crew, who we share with ST, for being serious warriors. We were stuck in fest traffic and literally jumped on stage, and I can’t believe how these bad asses made it happen under the circumstances. Thank you @deathtotravis @melisssawalton @chris.waiau @coreykoniz and more thank yous in the comments below. ❤️”
