The Word Alive Issue Statement Regarding Domestic Abuse Allegations Against Guitarist Zack Hansen

The Word Alive have issued a follow-up statement regarding the allegations of domestic abuse against their guitarist Zack Hansen. Earlier this week the band shared a statement from Hansen, in which he announced that he had ‘stepped away’ from the band. That statement followed footage showcasing alleged domestic abuse at the hands of Hansen towards his significant other being shared online two days prior.

Hansen‘s original statement made no mention of the nature of the allegations/footage, it read:

“As of today — with respect to my family, friends and fans I will be stepping away from The Word Alive to handle some personal issues and to take the time necessary to focus on myself. I know in the long run this is what’s best for me and TWA. I ask for your patience, understanding and privacy at this time. Thank you for all of the support.”

As word of the allegations and the footage itself spread, The Word Alive found themselves catching heat for allegedly covering for Hansen. In a follow-up statement issued by the band today, May 31st, the group stated:

“To The Word Alive family:

As soon as we were made aware of the situation directed towards our guitarist, Zack, we immediately asked him to step away from the band. We do not condone any domestic abuse whatsoever.
