Islander continue the lead-up into their successfully crowdfunded new album “Grammy Nominated” with the debut of a new single, “Ritual Of Death“. The alternative metal band have penned the track as a tribute to the three child victims of the infamously horrific 1993 murders mostly commonly referred to as the West Memphis Three case.
Islander commented:
“May 5th, 1993…three eight-year-old boys set off on a bike ride around their hometown of West Memphis, Arkansas. The next day, their bruised and mutilated hog-tied naked bodies were pulled from a stream, setting off an all-out effort to find who did this. Within a month, investigators were convinced they had found the killers, three teenagers accused of being Satanist because they listened to bands like Metallica and read Stephen King novels.
They would become known as ‘The West Memphis Three.’ The convictions and court battles that followed provide a cautionary tale for police and prosecutors too sure of their instincts. With our next single coming out this week, we want to raise awareness about this case as new DNA testing has just been approved in this 31 year old case.
‘Ritual Of Death‘ is a song from the perspective of the boys experiencing their final moments, and even after. We pray that this case soon brings peace and justice to all of those involved.”
