Pelican‘s new EP “Adrift / Tending The Embers” has been set for a release this Friday, March 01st. The Chicago-based post-metal band recorded that effort at Jamdek Recording Studio in their aforementioned hometown with Sanford Parker (EyeHateGod, YOB). The featured pair of songs, “Adrift” & “Tending The Embers“, represent the band’s first new music from their original lineup since 2012 (guitarist Laurent Schroeder-Lebec rejoined in 2020.)
A press statement indicated the direction the group headed in with these songs, offering:
‘The EP marks both a reunion and a departure, eschewing the caustic bombast of 2019’s ‘Nighttime Stories‘ for more delicate and nuanced territory that imbibes their pastoral Midwest post-rock tendencies with triumphant riffs that feel indebted to the classic Dischord pantheon.’
