Linkin Park & Volbeat Score New Platinum Certifications In The United States

Linkin Park and Volbeat have both notched themselves up some new sales/streaming certifications in the United States. First up is Linkin Park‘s sophomore album “Meteora“, which has newly been certified 8x multi-platinum by the RIAA. The album’s numbers were buoyed by a deluxe 20th anniversary edition which arrived last April.

That elaborate anniversary set shifted 38,500 album equivalent units during its first week of availability, 19,500 of which was attributed to pure sales. “Meteora” was last certified 7x multi-platinum in August of 2017.

Meanwhile, Volbeat scored their first-ever platinum certification in the U.S. for their single “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown“. That track originated from the group’s 2016 album “Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie“. The song was certified both platinum & gold on February 08th of this year.

Outside of that, Volbeat have previously notched up two gold albums (“Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies” & “Beyond Hell, Above Heaven“) and a gold single (“A Warrior’s Call“.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
