Matt Cameron (Soundgarden/ Pearl Jam) Digitally Releases His Collaborative EP With Melvins, Etc. Members

Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron‘s collaboration with several members of the Melvins, their associates and more has made its way to digital services. That EP, “Gory Scorch Cretins“, was previously made available last November on 12” vinyl as part of the annual Black Friday ‘Record Store Day‘ event.

That effort found Cameron laying down a bunch of solo material he had written, enlisting the help of Melvins vocalist/guitarist Buzz Osborne, drummer Dale Crover and bassist/vocalist Steven McDonald to flesh out the recordings. Toshi Kasai, a frequent production collaborator with Melvins also took part, as did musician/producer Nate Yaccino and Lemolo‘s Meagan Grandall.

Cameron commented of the release:

“I have been a massive Melvins fan since I first saw them play live in Seattle around 1985. They were a huge influence on me as a musician and big part of our local Seattle burgeoning underground rock music scene in the 80s.

I reconnected with the Melvins in 2019 when they performed at the Chris Cornell tribute concert in Los Angeles. After the show, I emailed Buzz and asked if he, Dale, Steven and Toshi could help me record some solo material I had kicking around.

I also collaborated with Seattle musician/producer Nate Yaccino and Meagan Grandall on this release. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, completely dug the results and decided to pay homage to the Melvins by reimagining the artwork (with their permission) from their groundbreaking record Gluey Porch Treatments. Enjoy.”
