Multi-platinum alternative rock band Hoobastank have digitally released their cover of Rod Stewart‘s late 70s platinum-certified disco hit, “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?“. That cover originated from the sessions for Hoobastank‘s 2x multi-platinum 2003 album “The Reason“. In light of the aforementioned anniversary, the band went back and finished the track, releasing it as part of a 20th anniversary vinyl pressing of that album late last year.
Guitarist/vocalist Dan Estrin commented:
“We are extremely excited about The Reason 20 year anniversary with our cover of Rod Stewart’s ‘Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?.’ Back when we made the record, we started recording the song but never fully completed it. So we shelved it for 20 years. In 2023 we finally pulled it out, dusted it off and finished it! We are thrilled to share it with YOU.”
Several other bonus tracks appear on that 20th anniversary edition of the record, including an acoustic version of the title track and a trio of songs previously released on soundtracks around the time.
