Recent Sumerian Records signing GARZI looks to be no fan of D.R.U.G.S./Chiodos vocalist Craig Owens. The two artists shared the bill of a tour with Escape The Fate this past fall, with tensions ultimately spilling over onstage. Going by the below clip filmed during an unspecified show, GARZI made some disturbing allegations against Owens amid an onstage rant.
In the footage, GARZI tore into Owens, telling the audience:
“In case you ever wondered, I’ve got a shirt that says ‘diversity hire’ on it. That’s because that’s what Craig Owens of D.R.U.G.S. thinks I am. He thinks I am here purely because I am black. So to that I say fuck you Craig Owens.”
Garzi would later elaborate on the years of work he has put into his own career, before calling Owens a “40-year-old washed up man.” Owens does not appear to have publicly responded to the allegations made by GARZI.
GARZI has since further elaborated on the matter on social media:
No, this was escape the fates tour back in September-October. He was upset about some of the shows selling poorly and said it’s because the openers (me and mixi from stitched up heart) were diversity hires and that it should have been a better lineup to fit the bill
