Doom Metal Supergroup Slower Release Their Cover Of Slayer’s “Blood Red”

Slower, the doom metal Slayer tribute band, have released their take on the “Seasons In The Abyss” cut “Blood Red“. As indicated by their chosen moniker, Slower set out to slow down select tracks from the catalog of the aforementioned thrash metal legends. That collective’s roster consists of the following musicians:

Vocals: Amy Barrysmith (Year Of The Cobra)
Vocals: Laura Pleasants (Kylesa)
Guitars: Bob Balch (Fu Manchu)
Bass: Peder Bergstrand (Lowrider)
Bass: Scott Reeder (Fireball Ministry, ex-Kyuss, etc.)
Drums: Esben Willems (Monolord)

Balch had the following to say about this latest rendition to be shared online:

“When I started this project I kind of had a feeling ‘Blood Red’ would find its way onto the chopping block. The groove is undeniably heavy at any speed and the arrangement is pretty straightforward. I sent Esben some scratch tracks to jam to and he killed it as usual. Then I tracked my guitars with actual amps. We sent all of that to Amy to lay down vocals. She absolutely nailed it!! After that, I used a single coil Reverend with a whammy bar for the solos. Peder’s bass was the last piece of the puzzle. He made it so much heavier! It didn’t think that was possible haha. I wanna thank all the players involved in this one. Enjoy!”

The group’s self-titled debut album will be out on January 26th via Heavy Psych Sounds. It will find the aforementioned ensemble putting their own spin on five Slayer staples, with the following track listing revealed for it:

01 – “War Ensemble
02 – “The Antichrist
03 – “Blood Red
04 – “Dead Skin Mask
05 – “South Of Heaven
