Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett once again ran into some trouble with the intro to one of the acclaimed thrash metal band’s most popular songs: the gold-certified “Nothing Else Matters” from the thrash metal legends’ 1991’s 16x multi-platinum self-titled album. The intro to that track has been a bit of a sticking point for Hammett lately, having previously botched it at a New Jersey show this past August, and at least year’s ‘Boston Calling‘ festival.
Hammett‘s latest snag with the song took place during the band’s headlining set at last night’s ‘Power Trip‘ festival in Indio, CA. Hammett quickly paused the set to address his flub to the audience directly. After owning up to his mistake, he restarted the track with a bit of extra ventilation courtesy of his bandmate, drummer Lars Ulrich. You can watch that unfold in the below fan-filmed footage:
