Metallica's Kirk Hammett

Video Released For Goodnight, Texas’ “Runaway”, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett Guests

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett lent his talents to the latest single from American folk rock outfit Goodnight, Texas. Not surprisingly, Hammett laid down a wah-based solo on the track, which finds the aforementioned band veering into hard rock territory. Goodnight, TexasPatrick Dyer Wolf commented:

“This is the hardest we’ve ever rocked on a recording. That’s thanks in no small part to an actual and absolute vintage Kirk Hammett wah solo on his legendary Greeny guitar, about which I am self-pinching daily. The main riff of the song had been lurking in my drafts like a caged animal since our last album, and at some point in the past year we decided it was time to set it free.”

Hammett picked up the aforementioned ‘Greeny’ guitar in 2014, with the fabled instrument—a modded 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard—having been used by Peter Green in Fleetwood Mac and more, along with Gary Moore in Thin Lizzy.
