New Zealand alternative metal outfit Alien Weaponry have issued a music video for their song “Ihenga“. That cut appears on the group’s latest album “Tangaroa“, and tells the story of Ihenga—a famous explorer of the Te Arawa people. A press release mentions that the band’s de Jong brothers have ancestral ties to the famed explorer.
The band themselves commented of the track:
“When the Te Arawa people first came to Aotearoa (New Zealand) from Hawaiki (greater Tahitian Island group), they set about exploring the new land. Ihenga traveled throughout the North Island of Aotearoa and named many places that still have these names today.”
The band have also been announced for the ‘Homegrown Festival‘ in Wellington, NZ on March 16th. They’ve also been booked to perform at the ‘Froth & Fury‘ festival in Port Adelaide, AUS on November 18th.
