Influential rap rockers 311 have newly been awarded several new platinum single certifications by the RIAA. The latest songs to take home hardware for the group are their 2004 cover of The Cure‘s “Love Song“, which was released for the soundtrack for the film ‘50 First Dates‘.

Down“, the second single from the group’s 3x multi-platinum self-titled album, has also newly gone platinum. Rounding out this clutch of platinum certifications is “Amber“, the third single from 2001’s “From Chaos“, which was just certified gold, platinum and ultimately 3x multi-platinum.

Beautiful Disaster“, the third single from the band’s 1997 platinum-certified “Transistor“, has also newly attained platinum status. All the above new single certifications were announced by the RIAA yesterday, September 07th.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
