Year Of The Knife’s Madi Watkins Has Been Making Great Progress In Her Recovery From The Band’s Horrific Van Crash

Year Of The Knife vocalist Madi Watkins looks to be well into her recovery process. The singer and her bandmates were involved in a horrifying van crash in Salt Lake City, UT this past June, which left no member of the outfit unscathed.

While her bandmates suffered broken bones, a lacerated artery and a concussion, Madi was left in critical condition, having endured serious head and spinal trauma. Her injuries included a broken jaw on both sides of her face, as well as fractures to her ribs, femur and ankle.

The severity of her injuries saw her placed in a medically-induced coma for a number of days to help with the recovery process. In the weeks since the accident, she has undergone numerous surgeries and continues to remain in Utah, where she is receiving cognitive therapy, speech therapy and physical therapy.

Per updates recently shared by her husband, Year Of The Knife, guitarist/vocalist Brandon Watkins, those sessions have all been going as planned. Just this week Madi was able to once again eat proper food. She had previously been unable to do so due to her jaw being wired shut.

Brandon also mentioned that the trach tube she had surgically inserted was also recently downsized. Furthermore, she is now able to stand up with the aid of a walker.

Given the extent of medical care required by the band’s various members, lodging costs amid the hospital stay and the loss of their touring vehicle in the crash, this GoFundMe was launched to help assist the group with the various costs incurred.
