Multi-platinum nü-metal/alt-rock outfit Hoobastank have joined an elite club of musicians, with their music video for their 4x multi-platinum single “The Reason” having surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube. That Brett Simon-directed video was uploaded to that streaming platform some 13 years ago.
The milestone arrives ahead of the looming 20th anniversary of the band’s sophomore studio album of the same name. Originally released on December 09th, 2003, “The Reason” went on to attain 2x multi-platinum status in the United States back in August of 2004.
The single’s continued success was in part spurred by going viral on TikTok, with the hashtag of #NotAPerfectPerson having generated over 948 million views on the platform.
