Post-metal collective Pelican have teamed with Chris Hansen of fellow Chicago natives Pinebender for a cover of Karate‘s 1996 track “Gasoline“. Hansen lends his vocals to the track, which was put together by Numero Group.
Pelican commented:
“We’re all huge fans of Numero Group, so when they asked us if we’d cover music from their extensive catalog we were beyond honored. Karate’s ‘Gasoline‘ emerged as a superb vehicle for lifting the curtain on the emo-adjacent influences that are foundational to our music.
We tapped our good friend Chris Hansen from Pinebender, with whom we’ve shared many a stage, to handle the song’s vocals as the timbre of his voice seems particularly dialed in for this material. We couldn’t be more stoked with how it turned out.”
Pelican will be playing a few shows with Upper Wilds this month, here’s what’s lined up:
08/09 Indianapolis, IN – HiFi
08/10 Louisville, KY – Whirling Tiger
08/11 Detroit, MI – Smalls
08/12 Chicago, IL – Metro (feat. Uniform)
