Corrosion Of Conformity’s “Deliverance” Goes Gold In The United States

Some 40 plus years since their formation, Corrosion Of Conformity have just officially landed their first gold record in the United States. The band’s standout 1994 slab of southern metal, “Deliverance“, just recently crossed the threshold for that certification.

That effort was the influential North Carolinian’s outfit’s first to see guitarist Pepper Keenan graduate to the main vocal duties full-time, having previously flirted with that role on two songs on the group’s 1991 outing, “Blind“.

The RIAA officially announced the gold certification of “Deliverance” today, August 01st. That record will officially turn 30 next year on September 27th.

A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
