Ozzy Osbourne Withdraws From This Year’s ‘Power Trip’ Festival

Heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has announced that he will be withdrawing from performing live at this year’s first-ever ‘Power Trip‘ festival. Osbourne‘s touring career was cut short in late 2019 after a fall dislodged steel rods that were previously surgically inserted into him. Those rods were implemented to help him recover from a serious ATV accident he was involved in close to two decades prior.

The resulting neck and spinal surgeries and various treatments for the fall left him with nerve damage and other lingering side effects, which have since impacted his sense if balance. While Osbourne has played limited live engagements in recent years, he has done so with the aid of a brace to ensure that he is able to stay upright. Osbourne was also diagnosed with PRKN 2, a form of Parkinson’s disease, back in 2003.

This year’s ‘Power Trip‘ was set to mark his first time back onstage for a full proper live set. A statement issued by the Prince Of Darkness himself earlier today, July 10th, reads as follows:

“As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October.

My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.

Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.

The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.

Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support.

I love you all and I will see you soon.

God Bless,

Ozzy

There’s no word yet on who will be taking his place at the ‘Power Trip‘ festival. That event will feature the likes of AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden and Tool when it takes over the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA from October 06th to 08th.
