Year Of The Knife’s Madi Watkins Has Begun Responding “In Little Ways” Following Horrific Van Crash

In a brief update shared yesterday, July 07th, Year Of The Knife guitarist/bassist Brandon Watkins shared an update that his wife and Year Of The Knife bandmate, vocalist Madi Watkins, has been physically responsive in small ways. The entire band sustained considerable injuries when their van crashed into a semi-trailer truck late last month while leaving Salt Lake City, UT on tour.

Madi was left with the most severe injuries in the crash, suffering unspecified head and spinal trauma, which initially left her in critical condition. While her status was thankfully later downgraded to stable, she was put into a medically induced coma and is facing down a long road of various surgeries.

Brandon took to the internet yesterday, July 08th to share the following positive update on her health:

While Brandon himself suffered a concussion and some other minor injuries, his bandmate, drummer Andy Kisielewski was left with two broken ankles in the crash and has been released from hospital. His brother, Aaron (guitars), sustained a broken femur and a lacerated carotid right artery and has since undergone surgery. He remained hospitalized as of a few days ago.

Given the devastating crash, which in addition to the serious injuries mentioned above, totaled the band’s van and financial livelihood, a crowdfunding campaign was launched to help assist with the ongoing bills the group will continue to be facing. You can donate to that campaign over at GoFundMe.
