Original Story:

Year Of The Knife guitarist/bassist Brandon Watkins has commented on the outpouring support he and his bandmates have received in light of the hardcore band’s serious van accident earlier this week. That crash left his wife, vocalist Madi Watkins in critical condition with head and spinal injuries, as well as several broken bones.

While Brandon himself suffered a concussion in the accident, drummer Andy and guitarist Aaron Kisielewski were listed as both having suffered broken legs and other injuries. The unfortunate incident took place while the band were departing Salt Lake City, UT as part of their summer tour. An apparent report on the accident in question showed what is thought to be the group’s van having crashed into the back of a trailer of a semi-trailer truck.

In light of the accident, friends of the band organized this GoFundMe campaign, which has since gone on to raise over $130,000 USD since being launched yesterday, June 29th. Many prominent members of the hardcore and metalcore scene have rallied around the outfit, with the likes of Architects, Vein.fm, hate5six, Counterparts, Spiritbox, Converge, Knocked Loose and many more among the top donors.

Speaking this afternoon on the matter, Brandon said on social media:
