Nü-metal titans Korn most certainly had a positive impact on the finances of Adidas back in the mid-1990s. The outfit almost singlehandedly elevated the tracksuit to new heights not seen since they heydays of RUN-D.M.C.. The boys from Bakersfield even up the sporting brand’s cache even further with “A.D.I.D.A.S.“, the second single from their 2x multi-platinum 1996 sophomore album, “Life Is Peachy“.
However due to an apparent focus solely on athletes, Adidas dropped the ball in lining up a deal with the band, leading to Puma swooping in back in 1998 and striking a proper sponsorship deal reportedly worth $500,000 USD. With over two decades having since passed, it looks like Korn and Adidas are finally ready to get down to business.
Complex are reporting that band are teaming up with Adidas for two separate sneakers (Campus 00s & Supermodified) and seven pieces of apparel, which reportedly will range consist of shirts, hoodies, and yes official tracksuits (including a take on Jonathan Davis‘ classic purple suit.) Complex have shared several leaked photos and mockups of the as-yet unannounced collaboration, which is expected to launch later this year. You can take a look Complex.
