Multi-platinum alternative metal outfit Avenged Sevenfold have confirmed that their eighth studio album “Life Is But A Dream…” will feature a pair of contributions from their late drummer/vocalist James ‘The Rev’ Sullivan.
The bridge in the album track “Mattel” was written by The Rev prior to his 2009 passing, though a home for it was never found prior. Meanwhile “Beautiful Morning” sports lyrics Sullivan wrote in his side project band Pinkly Smooth. That outfit also featured Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synster Gates.
Avenged Sevenfold frontman M. Shadows recently commented on the latter to Metal Hammer, offering:
“That’s something him and Brian came up with a long time ago: ‘It’s a beautiful morning, it’s a beautiful day, everybody is smiling, in a beautiful way,’ That’s when it [the song] gets creepy.”
Shadows also feels that his late bandmate would appreciate the chances and experimentation present on “Life Is But A Dream…“, telling the aforementioned publication:
“He’d be stoked. Me and Brian [Haner, aka guitarist Synyster Gates] know that guy better than anyone. He was always the biggest proponent of instigation and trying new things.”
