Platinum-certified post-hardcore group Sleeping With Sirens have newly earned themselves their first gold album in the United States. The band’s 2011 sophomore album “Let’s Cheers To This” has newly been certified gold as of today, May 18th, by the RIAA. That record’s third single “If You Can’t Hang” previously went platinum in May of last year.
Outside of this latest accolade, the band have also notched up gold records for their singles “Scene Two: Roger Rabbit” and “If I’m James Dean, You’re Audrey Hepburn” in the U.S..
A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
