Last month saw platinum-selling alternative metal oddballs Primus unite with Tool‘s rhythm section, Danny Carey (drums) and Justin Chancellor (bass) for a special benefit set. Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen also took part in that performance, which was held April 17th at the Belasco in Los Angeles, CA.
The purpose of the performance was to raise funds for director, screenwriter, etc. Jimmy Hayward (‘Jonah Hex‘, ‘Toy Story‘) in his cancer battle. In addition to running through several Primus standards, the aforementioned collective also indulged in a handful of covers during the set. Among them were tracks by AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and King Crimson.
The ensemble also took on Tool‘s towering 1996 single “Ænema” that night. Official footage of that rendition has just been shared by Primus and is available for viewing below. Further footage from the set can be found here
Fundraising efforts for Hayworth continue with an auction running here. A GoFundMe has also been launched at this location.
