It would appear that things are getting serious in the Mötley Crüe camp. The outfit were recently shown to have been hammering out new song ideas with their latest recruit, guitarist John 5.
Now it has been revealed that those sessions have since transitioned into actual studio time. Per John 5‘s below post, the glam metal outfit have been laying down tracks with producer Bob Rock (Metallica, The Cult), whom they’ve worked with on numerous other releases throughout their career.
Word of the studio time comes amid the ugly ongoing legal battle between the band and their estranged guitarist Mick Mars. Mars claims to have stepped down from touring with the outfit with the intention of partaking in potential select live shows and potential studio time. In that sense, he intended to retain his 25% share in the band’s revenue.
The group however felt that his stepping down from touring constituted him retiring from the outfit, citing an agreement signed years prior where non-active members of the band were no longer eligible for select profits generated. As it stands now, the band claim Mars retired, while Mars insists he remains a member.
